Staying Connected in Morocco: SIM Cards, eSIM and Wi-Fi

Local SIM or eSIM? Wi-Fi in the desert? Plugs? Here is how to stay connected during your hosted trip.

Staying in touch with the group chat, sharing photos and calling home is easy in Morocco, with a few things to know about the desert and the mountains.

Local SIM card

Maroc Telecom, Orange and inwi sell prepaid SIM cards with data, including at Marrakech airport. You need your passport. It is usually the cheapest option for data.

eSIM

If your phone supports it, an eSIM bought before the trip works as soon as you land, with no shop to find.

Wi-Fi

Most riads and hotels have Wi-Fi. It can be slow in remote places, and some desert camps have none: enjoy the stars.

Signal on the road

The signal is good in towns, weaker in the gorges, the Atlas valleys and the dunes. Our team stays reachable through your guide and driver.

Plugs and power

Morocco uses 220 V and European two-pin plugs (types C and E). Bring an adapter if needed and a power bank for long days.

Frequently asked questions

Will I have signal in the desert?

Often a little near Merzouga, but not everywhere. Download what you need before.

Can I charge my phone at the camp?

Many camps have limited charging. Bring a power bank.
