Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten-Free in Morocco

Moroccan food is full of vegetables, legumes and spices. Here is how to eat well with special diets on a group trip.

Good news: Moroccan cuisine is rich in vegetables, chickpeas, lentils and fresh salads. With a little planning, every diet is possible.

Vegetarian

  • Vegetable tagine and vegetable couscous
  • Zaalouk (aubergine) and taktouka (peppers) salads
  • Harira soup (ask for the version without meat broth)
  • Msemen and baghrir pancakes at breakfast

Vegan

Many salads and vegetable tagines are vegan. Ask for dishes without butter (smen) and honey. Tell us on the booking form so the cooks prepare for you.

Gluten-free

Couscous and bread are made from wheat. Tagines, grilled dishes, salads and rice are good options. Bring a translated card explaining your needs.

Allergies

Tell us about any allergy when you book. We inform every riad, camp and restaurant on the route in advance.

Frequently asked questions

No. We tell the camp in advance about your diet.

Is street food safe?
